Case Studies

The Cumberland Building Society, Lynette Hilton

“We are really proud to support the work of voluntary and charity organisations that aim to make a real difference for people in our local communities like South Lakeland Mind. So we were really pleased to have been asked to support this great local cause by taking part in the RED January initiative. It was sometimes a challenge to stay active every day, but as a team we’re proud not only to have supported and motivated each other through the month, but more importantly being able to help raise awareness for such a great cause that is close to many people’s heart, and help raise money for this fantastic organisation.”

Campaigns and Events

Could you assist with organising and delivering our campaigns and events? You will help enable us to raise awareness and understanding of mental health, and fundraise for our services.

Training and Development

South Lakeland Mind provides a wide range of training and development opportunities for local businesses, public sector organisations and other charities.

In partnership with Kendal College we provide:

  • level 1 mental health awareness course
  • level 2 mental health awareness course
  • level 1 substance misuse course in partnership with CADAS

All of these courses raise awareness and understanding so that your staff can improve their wellbeing and better support customers, colleagues and others. All courses are free (provided a minimum of 12 learners participate) and are delivered in your workplace at convenient dates and times.

We also provide bespoke training to meet the specific needs of your organisation including mental health first aid and courses on confidence and self-esteem, anxiety and depression, and engaging and supporting others.

Additionally we facilitate reflective learning workshops for staff to increase their resilience, improve their wellbeing and enable them to work effectively with others. Our rates for these courses and workshops are competitive and the income generated supports the work of South Lakeland Mind.

We run tailored campaigns to improve the wellbeing of your staff including talks and workshops and opportunities to try new techniques and activities (mindfulness etc) as well as confidential one to one advice and guidance. We also deliver wellbeing days using team-building activities to promote opportunities for staff to improve their wellbeing and better support colleagues and clients.

We can support your staff to organise activities, including social events as well as individual and team challenges, to promote wellbeing with the workforce and the wider community, or to participate in our own events and campaigns (including RED, our annual campaign to get people to set themselves a personal challenge to be more active every day in January).

For more information please contact Annie Truch at or on 01539 740591.

South Lakeland Mind is a successful and growing charity that supports over 400 people each year to improve their wellbeing by raising awareness and understanding of mental ill health (through campaigns, events and training) and by providing counselling and peer support.
