We need HELP all year – the fundraising campaign continues
Green Door art auction Wednesday 25 February – The Brewhouse at Burgundys, 19 Lowther St, Kendal (entrance from Yard 39). The evening starts at 7pm, with bidding ending promptly at 9pm.

On Wednesday 25 February, we are delighted that Green Door, a not-for-profit artists’ co-operative based in Kendal, will be holding their art auction for the benefit of two local charities. Green Door is committed to making contemporary art accessible to local residents and visitors to the area. The auction will also fulfil this aim, and the art work donated by members will be of an exceptionally high standard.

The two charities being supported are South Lakeland Mind, which exists to enhance the quality of life of people experiencing mental and emotional distress and to work generally towards the promotion of better mental health and a greater sense of wellbeing for people in South Lakeland; and In the Moment, which delivers art projects for people with dementia. As well as this, the ‘main event’, there will be a raffle and cake stall which raise additional funds. It is a guaranteed enjoyable evening.

Jonathan Ingram, Chief Officer, said: ‘It is now 4 months since we launched the HELP campaign, and we have come a long way. The public came out for South Lakeland Mind. But short-term survival is one thing – the more difficult and enduring challenge is to ensure that the charity builds for the long term in difficult times. Part of that is about making sure that all those people who have been such good friends stay there for us. Then we can keep helping the people who need us.

‘As a first part of our ongoing campaign in 2015, we need to emphasise just how valuable it is when a group decides to fundraise on the charity’s behalf – then gets on with the hard work of encouraging people to part with their cash in a good cause. As we’ve found out, everything from the smallest coffee morning to the biggest event makes a difference. Green Door are the latest group to help, and we hope others will keep coming forward. We are so grateful.’
