HELP crisis fundraising campaign... the next few days
Like Live Aid, but better...

Doors open at 8pm this coming Saturday 6 December at Ruskins Bar in Kendal, and all the bands booked will be performing for free for the HELP campaign. For us, this is Live Aid... Confirmed acts include:

Support local bands and your local mental health charity at Ruskins Bar & Cafe this Saturday 6th December.
Shopping with Tim Farron...

We’ll be taking the HELP campaign to Morrisons supermarket in Kendal on Monday 8 December from 10am, helping everyone who’d like a hand with packing all that shopping, raising awareness of what we do as a charity, and hopefully raising some money as well. Tim Farron will be joining us late morning, and students from Kendal College will be along in the afternoon, which is great news.

Please get in touch if you can help, and join what will be a merry group on the day. Just call us on 01539 740591 or email

A beast of a Christmas tree...

We’re decorating a giant Christmas tree tomorrow Wednesday 3 December, 11am–3pm, and Thursday 4 December, 11.30am–1pm and 3.30–5pm. This is at Kendal Parish Church for the Christmas Tree Festival, and as we’ve been honoured with the biggest tree, it’ll need some serious festive festooning.

Please join us and, if you can, bring decorations... South Lakeland Mind colours (blue, white and yellow, preferably with a LOT of sparkle). Eggnog and mince pies are promised... If you can help, just call us on 01539 740591 or email

A reminder...

Even a small donation does make a difference and our total shows that’s true. It adds up, and it shows that the community cares. Ongoing support by direct debit (easy to set up at helps us plan:

Just Giving -
Text Giving - text 'MIND05£amount' to 70070 (e.g. MIND05£10)
Or cheques to South Lakeland Mind, Stricklandgate House, 92 Stricklandgate, Kendal LA9 4PU

And keep passing the word on, to family, friends, people you know, people you think should know. Talk, Tweet, Facebook, letter, email... whatever works for you.

Remember, 1 in 4 of us will experience a mental health problem in 2015. And we provide help, right here in our community, with an amazing 25 volunteers for every member of staff.

On behalf of the trustees, staff, volunteers and all those who we work alongside, I hope that you will keep taking our appeal for HELP for this outstanding local charity far and wide.

We have pulled back from the brink, and now we are doing all we can to bring in additional funding and take the charity forward on a sustainable basis. We are talking to the local authority, talking to health services, and talking to grant funders. And we are continuing to call on the public to come forward and help us raise money.

South Lakeland Mind is a positive force for change and innovation in our local mental health services. Its loss would be deeply felt in our community.
