Counselling Coordinator - 7 hours per week – £5697 (£28485 pro rata) Assistant Counselling Coordinator – 17.5 hours per week - £11700 (£23400 pro rata) Based in Kendal

South Lakeland Mind is a successful and growing mental health charity that supports over 250 people each year through Counselling and Peer Support delivered by a team of 6 staff and over 70 volunteers. Our Counselling Service is funded by Big Lottery Fund (Reaching Communities) and provides therapeutic support to c90 individuals at any one time through a team of c40 volunteer counsellors.

The Counselling Coordinator will act as the clinical lead for the Counselling Service, oversee the management of the Service including supervising the two Assistant Counselling Coordinators, and work with the Chief Officer to further develop the Service including securing British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) accreditation. The Counselling Coordinator will work 1 day (7 hours) per week with actual day(s) agreed mutually and could be appointed on either an employed or a self-employed basis.

The Assistant Counselling Coordinator will work alongside the existing Assistant Counselling Coordinator to deliver the service on a day-to-day basis including conducting pre counselling assessments, supporting clients, recruiting, training and supporting volunteer counsellors and carrying out monitoring and evaluation. The Assistant Counselling Coordinator will work 17.5 hours per week over Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday

The successful applicants will both be qualified counsellors. The Counselling Coordinator will ideally be accredited with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) or equivalent and have experience of developing and/or managing a therapeutic service. Both the Counselling Coordinator and the Assistant Counselling Coordinator will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team of staff and volunteers and have an understanding of statutory mental health services.
